“What is your major?” is the most famous question in college. We often put down medicine, business, or education-jobs that are stable and which parents or friends approve. But who is likely going to pay for that major and this college experience? You! You are probably going to pay all the bills and interest on your bills.
Why then should you be in a field that does not suit you at all? RWC offers a test to see what career options suit you best, based on your values, interests, and skills.
The best part of this test is that there is no right or wrong answer. Be truthful! You are only hurting yourself when you lie and pretend about yourself.
Go to this website: http://www.rwc.uc.edu/careerservices/index.html. At the bottom of the page is a quiz called “Focus.” Click on the “Log on to Focus” tab, and it will take you to page where the test is located.
The test has five sections, which test your career readiness. The second part is the self-assessment, which is five questions in total. Combine your assessment and print your results. Review the results and occupational matches, and see which of those interest you the most.
If you cannot decide, however, schedule an appoint with Carly Dennis, a Career Counselor in RWC Career Services. She will help you in the decision process.
