College Relations House Comes Down

As students and faculty arrived on campus the morning of April 8, the former RWC College Relations house now stood as a pile of rubble. Around 5:30 p.m. on April 7, a crew demolished the house in around 30 minutes. According to RWC Facilities Management, the house was demolished in a way that will recycle as much material as possible. The former farmhouse was purchased by the University in 1966 and had stood near the entrance of Raymond Walters College since the original construction of the College began later that year. The property was originally surrounded by trees, and cattle also lived on the property, according to the RWC College Relations Office.

The College rented out the house until the early 1990s, when College Relations began using it for its offices, but the building has been vacant now for several years. As rubble is sorted and recycled or disposed, the future of the space has not yet been determined.
