RWC Dean Cady Short-Thompson announced recently that effective July 1, the RWC Department of Office Information Technology will be “restructured into other existing academic units.” The faculty and academic programs in Office Information Technology will move into the Department of Business and Economics. The faculty and academic programs in Medical Assisting will move into the Department of Allied Health.
Dean Short-Thompson said that the restructuring of “somewhat dissimilar units will enable some cost savings and efficiencies as well as an improved program alignment with our departments in uptown and regional colleges.”
The Dean expressed thanks to all of the programs involved, “who will help us to continue to serve our students in these programs from new units. I appreciate my colleagues’ flexibility and positive attitudes in the midst of these changes. Thanks in advance for welcoming or joining your new departmental colleagues so warmly.”
The announcement came in the wake of Professor Heather Phillips resignation last week as Chair of the Office Information Technology Department.
