Student Government Seeks Candidates for Next Year

As the school year reaches a close, the Student Government will be seeking new candidates in all positions. “Our elections for next year are coming up in the near future,” said Megan Branham, President of RWC Student Government. “This means all positions are up for grabs.”According to Branham, there are many benefits associated with being an executive member, such as “close relationships with many other people, awesome faculty parking positions, close relationships with the student body, and most importantly, the potential to make a very positive difference on the College and its students.”

Student Government covers all sorts of jobs and issues around campus. For example, it raised $80 in Proudly Pennies last quarter. And this quarter there was a dispute between a student and professor that needed students to attend the meeting to vote on the issue.

The Student Government is also working on getting clocks available to all classrooms, fundraising for the giant ceremony at the end of the year, recruiting senators for communication between main campus and here, and fulfilling College committee positions to relay the student voice at these meetings. So there are tons of things to do.

If you are interested in becoming a potential candidate then begin by coming to meetings to get a feel for a possible position and run for it. Stop by the Student Government Office in Muntz Hall, near Room 265, for information about upcoming meetings and activities.
