Fashion One-on-One: Dita Von Teese

If there’s one thing I love, it’s vintage. And I’m not talking old school hippie. I’m talking retro. And the queen of vintage retro is none other than miss Dita Von Teese, model, burlesque artist and actress. Off stage, her clothing choices are always high fashion-harkening back to the glory days of the 1940’s and 50’s. She’s constantly classy and glamorous with her signature raven-haired wavy do. Below, I’ve listed three of her best looks that have graced the red carpet.

In third place is a sleek black dress that she wore to the Christian Lacroix fashion show in 2007. Featuring short black sleeves and a pencil hemline, it’s simple and stunning. She paired it perfectly with a pair of red pumps, red lipstick and a small red handbag.

Smart choice, Miss Von Teese. Colorful pumps with black dresses are very in. It’s a simple look, but it fits her well and she works it with a confidence that would make even the most stylish celebrity queen pale in comparison.

In second place, is a mossy green, floor-length dress that she wore to a MAC cosmetics event in April of 2008. Again, a fairly simple dress, but well worn. She paired them perfectly with a necklace and a gorgeous dark wavy bob. Now, I wasn’t a fan of the specific necklace she picked. But the size and color were perfect.

Take note, glamazons of the red carpet, never outdo yourself with jewelry. Make sure you know how much your dress can take without drowning it.

In first place was a latex black dress that she wore to the Christian Dior show in 2009 during Paris Fashion week. Showing just enough skin, this dress hugs all her curves. It’s a gorgeous dress, and, again, she knows what to bring with her. She leaves her neck bare, but sports a stylish leopard print bag. She doesn’t outdo herself.

So, brava, Dita Von Teese. You prove, as always, that you are a queen of the fashion world. You beat out all the competition with a unique look that you wear with pride and confidence. Keep on keeping on, Madame. I salute you.

P.S. For all you Raymond Walters girls, take a look at Miss Sarah Breitenbach, a member of our staff. You can’t miss her.
