Nina Adams Wins Staff Distinguished Service Award

Nina Adams has won the 2011 RWC Staff Distinguished Service Award. Adams started her career in UC’s College of Evening and Continuing Education in 1995. In 2000, she joined the RWC Registration office. She had a wide variety of tasks that came with the Registration job. One of her supporters said, “Nina is the epitome of someone who is dedicated to their position and job to help those she serves. She arrives every morning early and ready to begin helping students, faculty, and staff, even before the office is officially opened. Her dedication and dependability do not go unnoticed.”

Many students went to her for class registration because it was a comfortable experience. She would always take the time to make sure the student knew every effect on their class schedule. One quote from her nomination packet stated, “She gives them each a smile to send them on their way before helping the next person. Her caring personality shines through and puts the student at ease.”

Nina was not only a help to the students, but to co-workers as well. She would help those who came to her desk seeking assistance and information. Nina also assisted Tom Minter, RWC Director of Intake Services, in maintaining veterans’ benefits by negotiating their program and program start dates so as to meet VA requirements.

Nina recently retired from the office and is already missed, according to remarks by RWC Dean Cady Short-Thompson at the Awards Ceremony on April 29.
