Lauren Weisberger, the critically acclaimed author of The Devil Wears Prada, has done it again. She takes fashion and celebrity to new heights in Everyone Worth Knowing and makes us glad, at times, that we’re on the outside looking in.
We are introduced to Bette Robinson, a woman fresh out of college with a mundane banking job. She has never done an impulsive thing in her life, until she gets fed up with her boss and her job and walks out. Jobless and nearing homelessness, she has to decide what to do with her life as the calls from her parents become more steady and intrusive.
Enter Kelly, the fabulous owner of Manhattan’s hottest PR firm. She offers Bette a job and before she can accept, she is thrown into the lifestyle of the rich and famous. Her only job is to see and be seen in Manhattan’s hottest nightclub.
Here she meets Sammy, the hot bouncer she can’t stop running into. As an impromptu romance blooms between the two of them, Bette finds herself the victim of a new salacious gossip column. She is forced to decide between living a star lifestyle and having a life of her own.
Where the lines between personal and professional life become invisible, she has to choose between being an onlooker or being on the inside looking out.
