EMedia Travels

On Jan. 8, the EMedia Department went on a field trip to Krohn Conservatory. According to the department chair H. Michael Sanders, each quarter that the Photographic Principles and Lighting course is taught, the instructors and teaching assistants organize a field trip during the first weekend of the quarter to offer assistance to students during the shooting of their initial assignments.

The field trip is highly recommended; most students who go on the field trip do well with the assignment. Attending the field trip gives students an opportunity to become familiar with their equipment, to resolve any issues with the operational controls on their cameras, trouble shoot technical problems, and get feedback on subject matter and composition. This year a total of 120 students were invited to attend, and a total of 40 attended.

The outing is designed to benefit students. It should be especially helpful for new students in the department. Students had a chance to walk around on their own snapping away at any and everything. Instructors and teaching assistants were eager to help students.
