It’s coming, and there’s no possible way to avoid it. That’s right. It’s called finals week, and I, like many other college students, shutter with fear at it’s very name. But shutter no more, I’m here to give you 3 easy tips to stay focused, stay calm, and get through finals week…
1.) The first tip is to write down all the classes you have finals in and create a study plan. Planning according to this schedule will help you greatly and minimize the amount of stress. By laying out your courses and studying for your finals one by one, you won’t be as overwhelmed when it comes to studying. This plan can propel you through what many consider a hectic work week.
2.) DON’T CRAM, I know as college students we take pride in saying that we stayed up until wee hours of the morning studying for a test or quiz. But the night before a final seems to be the most important. Your mind and body needs plenty of sleep, so schedule adequate times to study, not the night before. Who wants to go into a final ready to pass out because they didn’t get enough sleep the night before? I know I don’t.
3.) Simply taking a break from studying altogether can help greatly. Break up those long hours of studying with some good ol’ fashioned television or anything else that’ll take your mind off of the study material. You may want to scream yourself after staring at the books for long periods of time, but don’t! Simply walk away and give yourself a 15-20 minute break. You’ll be surprised at how you feel when you have to sit back down and study.
And there you have it, 3 ways to reduce stress, and increase those test scores. So take it home, and give ‘em a try, good luck!
