The Career Fair was held this year on April 18 at UCBA. During this time students had the chance to look at job offerings around the area. The businesses that came to UCBA ranged from Proctor and Gamble (P&G) to Mary Kay and even Chipotle. What was the point for these businesses to come to UCBA? Well, it gives students the opportunity to look for a future career or even a chance to have an internship with a company.
Before attending the fair, students were asked to bring a completed resume with them as well as dressing the part for interviews. Some students came with an open mind, because they really did not know what to expect from this career fair! “I was interested in P&G because of how reputable the company is, and I honestly thought that going to the fair would be a waste of time, but I ended up really enjoying it,” said Chelsea Fauver, a student at UCBA.
Some of the biggest companies in the Cincinnati area are looking for young, fresh college students to work for them. By the looks of the fair, many students came out of it with a new look to their future career. “When I was looking at the different businesses that came to the fair, I was so excited to see who would look at my application. I am interested in finding a summer job, and this fair was perfect,” said Savannah Norris, another UCBA student.
Summer is just right around the corner, and finding the perfect summer job can sometimes be difficult. The fair didn’t last all day, but walking down the halls at UCBA, you saw so many students talking to different companies. It is sometimes challenging to find a company that will even bother to look at your resume, but this day led to many great opportunities for everyone.
The day was filled with information about what you would be doing, as well as how to manage your time as a student and working. Sometimes managing work and school can be rough, which is why some of these companies talked about their internship opportunities as well as co-op possibilities. When students par-take in these special activities it’s a great way to get their name out to that company to get a head start in full-time jobs.
