Animal lovers show support through Doggie Dash

On Saturday, June 2, animal lovers and their pets flocked to Glenwood Gardens to participate in the 10th Annual SPCA Doggie Dash Walk for Kindness, a fundraiser for the SPCA of Cincinnati.

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) hosts this popular event in various regions of the country each year in order to collect important donations that will be put toward local SPCA shelters.

Many animal lovers came to Glenwood Gardens this year accompanied by their canine counterparts. Attendees were offered the choice to take a one-, two-, or three-mile walk with their dog (although individuals without pets were also welcomed).

The group also enjoyed food and contests throughout the day, as well as the opportunity to browse the variety of booths set up for the Doggie Dash.

Participants who registered by June 1st were required to pay an entrance fee of $25. Each additional family member of the same household was asked to pay $10 each if registering together for a maximum of $50 per family.

Those registering on the day of the event were asked to pay $30.

Although this was the minimum fee to be a part of the Doggie Dash, registrants were encouraged to raise as much money as possible for the event – their earnings were put toward the many necessities of shelter animals currently housed at local SPCA shelters.

Attendees who made significant contributions to the shelters received additional gifts to thank them for their efforts. Individuals received 2012 Doggie Dash T-shirts, hats, sweatshirts, and jackets depending on the size of their donations.

The 10th Annual SPCA Doggie Dash Walk for Kindness was an excellent opportunity for animal lovers to contribute to a cause they are passionate about while enjoying food, walks, and contests with their pets.
