“This Film Is Not Yet Rated” To Be Shown Here Oct. 10

The next screening of the UCBA Film Club will take place Wednesday, October 10, from 3- 6 p.m. in Muntz Hall Room 357.  “This Film is Not Yet Rated,” directed by Kirby Dick in 2006, will be followed by a brief discussion of the film.
The film was chosen in conjunction with UCBA’s celebration of National Arts and Humanities month and the theme of truth-telling Americans. The documentarian set out to discover and reveal the identities of people sitting on the ratings board of the Motion Picture Association of America, an anonymous group vested with the powers of assigning ratings to films screened in American cinemas.
Truth is central to the film on two levels, as an exposé of the identities of ratings board members at the time, but also as an argument against what amounts to censorship by a select group.
Everyone is welcome, and there is no charge to participate.
