Boyce Avenue, a Florida-based alternative band with acoustic roots and melodic rock, consists of three talented brothers: Alejandro, Fabian, and Daniel Manzano.
The brothers waited to pursue their music career after finishing their higher education goals first.
While Alejandro (lead vocals, guitar, piano) and Fabian (vocals, guitar) studied at the University of Florida, Daniel (vocals, base, percussion) graduated from Harvard and reunited with his brothers in Florida to begin recording together.
Like many beginning artists, Boyce Avenue began their journey to fame by recording covers of popular songs on YouTube. Their YouTube channel skyrocketed back in 2007 with over 300,000,000 views and 7,000,000 subscribers worldwide.
After many EPs in just a few years, Boyce Avenue finally reached its goal in 2010 by signing with Universal Republic and introducing their debut album All We Have Left. This album includes the three singles “Every Breath,” “Broken Angel,” and “On My Way.”
These songs and the rest of the album are written much like love stories, and many are reminders to someone important in their life.
In 2011, Boyce Avenue left Universal Republic to produce through their own label known as 3 Peace Records. They are currently working on their next album and still keep up with their covers on YouTube. They have also produced their own music videos called “Find Me,” “Dare to Believe,” and “Broken Angel,” all songs from their album.
Boyce Avenue is good for all kinds of listeners because the band’s self-written songs are deeply relatable and are complemented by their covers of listeners’ favorite songs.
My three personal favorite remakes of theirs are “Iris,” by the Goo Goo Dolls, “Teenage Dream,” by Katy Perry, and “Faithfully,” by Journey. Each is filled with simple acoustics and occasional piano. Simple is acceptable, considering Alejandro’s strong voice is what gives each song the full effect.
Boyce Avenue remakes a wide range of different artists and songs, and if anyone is ever looking to tone down to an acoustic level, this is the perfect band to look up.
