Dean Creates “Academic Warning” Category

Dr. Greg Metz, UCBA Assistant Dean of Student Services, has developed a new category for UCBA students on the verge of being on academic probation. It’s called an “academic warning.” The new category has been created to support students before being placed on academic probation, which would result in their financial aid being lost. Dean Metz says that academic warning gives students a chance to be successful and get their acts together.
Also being put into action is the Bearcat Bond, Dean Metz added. The Bearcat Bond is for students to uphold the principles for a Just Community and the values of respect, responsibility and inclusiveness. The goal of the Bond is to heighten awareness and increase the number of students living the Bond.
According to Metz, the next steps in enforcing the Bond are to have more visuals around campus and to host events and contests.
Another campus goal for Dean Metz is the hope of collaborating with a program called “Caps.” Caps stands for (counseling and psychological services). Students on Blue Ash campus should be able to have a counselor to talk to just as main campus does, Metz said. For now, he said the counselor will only be parttime.
If you have any questions regarding the Bearcat Bond, academic warning, or the new counselor on campus, you can contact Assistant Dean Metz in the Student Services Office, in Muntz Hall, Room 125.
