The UCBA Department of Veterinary Technology was recently named the winner of the Proctor and Gamble Pet Care Award for Excellence in Team Teaching by the Association of Veterinary Technical Educators (AVTE).
This award, which is given once every two years, could have been received by any number of the many veterinary programs in the US. According to Professor Jennifer Wells, the head of the UCBA Vet Tech program, the award is something to be shared with everyone who is involved in the program, and their students are the key to their success in how well they learn the required material.
In 2014 the program will mark its 45-year anniversary, making the program one of the most established in the nation, Wells said.
Through this program students learn how to perform all the general care for animals, including vaccinations as well as anesthesia support.
