The Web: Chivers Share Creative Photos

Are you looking for interesting and funny viral photos or just looking to kill time?  Then the website and app called “theChive” is just for you.
theChive is a photo-based entertainment website that was founded by Leo and John Resig from Austin, Texas, in 2008.  In the early years of theChive, the Resig brothers created hoaxes to draw attention to their website.
Since then the website has grown to become the World’s Largest Photo Entertainment Website, with over 10,000 galleries and over 500,000 photos submitted by the creators and daily visitors also known as “Chivers.”
The brothers’ most notorious photo is a hoax known as the “$10,000 Tip,” which involved billionaire Donald Trump.  Media outlets such as Fox News even reported on the story, stating, “Donald Trump isn’t a cheapskate when it comes to good service.  The real-estate mogul left a $10,000 tip on an $82.27 bill Monday at a restaurant in Santa Monica, Calif.”
Reports would later show that it was all a hoax, and theChive website has become very popular since then.  theChive also does good through their charity organization, Chive Charities, and within several hours of creating the organization, they raised over $100,000, thanks to friends, family, and Chivers!
