A lot of us wander around University of Cincinnati main campus, even though we attend UC Blue Ash. But if you didn’t know when school started August 25, drama in and around main campus continues to cause fear in students, and it just seems to keep on coming. On September 25, a University of Cincinnati football player from Lakota East High School was killed in a motorcycle crash.
Chamoda Kennedy-Palmore, a non-scholarship football player, was killed when a vehicle turned across two lanes of traffic and hit his motorcycle around 1:30 p.m. He was only 19 years old. In spite of the accident, the UC football game against Ohio State was still played the following Saturday.
With that tragic death happening, you would think they would have cancelled the game, but UC was fighting for that win. With all the drama already happening around UC, something like this does nothing but make the students more worried about what’s going on, wondering if there’s even one safe place on campus.
Our emails almost overload every week with new crime happening on and around campus grounds. Since the shooting, will the student body take more action and get more involved with protection on campus? Or will they think that they have done all they can do.
The students who are concerned about all the violence should take action and figure out what is going to help keep us safe. But that is probably the hardest question yet for anyone to answer.
How are students going to minimize the violence on campus? All students, including UCBA students, have to come together to find a solution.
