My World: An Epidemic of Spelling Errors

Fellow UCBA students, there is an epidemic amongst us that must be stopped.  Reading some people’s text messages and social media posts has almost become as difficult as reading hieroglyphics.  We are all college students, and there is no excuse we can use for horrible spelling.

If it isn’t somebody using “gud” for good, there’s somebody using “Ion” for I don’t. Everything can’t be abbreviated.  Some things simply have to be spelled out.

I understand we like things done a lot more quickly these days, but you can’t look like a bumbling idiot in the process.

There should be no reason for a person to have to read a text or post a couple times just to decipher the meaning.  If you are reading something and your eyebrows start to rise up, that’s a problem.

I doubt that this is simply happening to me.  There are plenty of us who read things from people and after reading it say to ourselves, “What?”

Somewhere along the line, the thought of composing what you have to say as fast as you can moved past the thought of people actually understanding what you write.

So let’s start a new trend.  Let’s band together and start spelling correctly again.
