President Barack Obama has served two terms as President from 2008-2012 and currently from 2012-2016.
Through these years there has been a lot of controversy over whether or not he and his administration have been beneficial to the U.S. or have just made matters worse than what they were.
Many believe that President Obama is just simply a model or a trophy, someone to prove that America has moved past its long history of racial discrimination.
Others believe that President Obama is one of the best Presidents in the history of America and that his accomplishments outweigh his mistakes and misfortunes.
I personally believe that President Obama has done a great job so far through his presidency. He has shown growth and maturity as a person and has become a lot more knowledgeable of the needs of this country. In just four years Obama has accomplished many goals, such as ending the war in Iraq, eliminating Osama Bin Laden, repealing the “Don’t ask Don’t Tell” issue in the military, and bringing gas down to two dollars a gallon across the nation.
Obama has created more jobs than any other advanced economy combined. From 2009-2014 Obama has created over 10 million jobs in the U.S. during his presidency and continues to do so.
One of Obama’s accomplishments that stood out the most to me was kicking banks out of the Federal student loan program and expanding Pell Grant spending. Obama ended subsidizing banks to provide college loans. Starting in July 2010, all students began getting their federal student loans directly from the federal government. Because of this, the Treasury will save $67 billion over the next 10 years.
There hasn’t been this much progress in the U.S. since the Clinton administration back in the late 90s. But, even with all of this said, you still have people who feel as though Obama hasn’t done all he can do. There are still arguments over why the economy is still weak and why we aren’t progressing faster than what we are.
But what people fail to realize is that Obama walked into a mess. He is not the reason for the economy being so bad. The only thing he can do in the position he’s in is to try to get the economy back strong the best way that he can. Let’s face it: all the issues of America aren’t going to be solved in just two terms, no matter who the president is.
