Many of you have probably heard of HoneyBaked Ham. Maybe it is even the place you go to get your ham at Thanksgiving time. The owner and board member Craig Kurz is coming to UCBA on October 1 at 7:00 pm to bring back the Entrepreneur Speaker Series. Seating for the talk will begin at 6:30 pm. The talk should last about an hour ending at 8:00 pm, which will lead to the free reception that should also last about an hour.
HoneyBaked Ham is a family owned business that started in the basement of Kurz’ grandfather’s house. It has grown a lot since that time.
This isn’t just an ordinary speaker talking for an hour about something that doesn’t interest you. This is going to be an interview with Professor William Lutz, Assistant Professor of Business, and Kurz. They will discuss the future of HoneyBaked Ham, what Lutz characterizes as “a great American story.” This interactive interview will be held in the Muntz Auditorium, followed with a free reception.
This will be a very open and interactive interview. Lutz will be asking questions about the company and about what it takes to be an entrepreneur along with allowing the audience to add and ask questions. Lutz will also be contributing to $500 worth of scholarships which at the end will be given to five randomly chosen students who attend. Each of the five students will receive $100 UC Blue Ash scholarship. After they are rewarded, it will then move to the reception.
Yes, at the reception you will be able to eat some of the delicious ham, along with a chance to meet Kurz himself. The reception gives students a chance to connect one-on-one with a local business leader. You will be able to ask him questions that you may have not been able to ask during the interview. This will give you the opportunity to hear from this successful entrepreneur directly
