Top Two Movies to See

The Gift

Summary: The Gift is about a young married couple who is relocating to California for the husband's new job. This causes a series of harrowing events as he meets an acquaintance from his middle school days who brings strange gifts to the couple and brings up a mysterious secret from years ago.

Review: The Gift is one of those movies you go into maybe not expecting much except for a typical unintelligent thriller, but you get much more than that. What you receive is an unexpected great performance from Jason Bateman far from his typical comedic roles, plus a performance from Joel Edgerton that will haunt you but also make you want to be on his character's side whether you think he is bad or not. These two tied together with a very believable Rebecca Hall, who sells herself as the person for you to care about, with her making you feel her pain with every line she speaks. The movie has things that can relate to us all, whether it is that bully we all know or the troubled relationship. It never seems to have a dull moment, keeping you wondering throughout with genius writing and directing from Edgerton that can make you hate a character played by a lovable comedian like Bateman. This movie may frustrate you with its ambiguous ending but you'll enjoy the journey to it, and it is a must see for all movie goers.

The Man from Uncle

Summary: The basis of the movie is about two agents one CIA named Napoleon Solo and a KGB operative named Illya Kuryakin who work together to stop a criminal organization who is trying to create their own nuclear weapons.

Review: The film had superb acting from each main character as none of them used their native dialect for the film. The editing resulted in the fashion of the 60s TV show "The Man from UNCLE" making one reminisce on it. The plot was driven well the whole time and resulted in funny running jokes and one liners, with action packed scenes. The chemistry between characters was comical and realistic. Although it may not be the most thought provoking movie ever it is constantly entertaining and respectful and a must see fun film.
