Did Liz Carroll get a fair trial?

I think everybody believes that the worst thing a person can do is to kill a kid. That’s what Liz Carroll was on trial for; she was found guilty of killing her three-year-old developmentally delayed foster child. Everyone has an opinion, and many people believe that Liz should be killed, instead of the 54-year sentence she received. Yes, the child was killed, but how many of us believe that Liz received a fair trial? There are many area defense attorneys who believed that her defense would put up a strong case.

But after three days of the prosecution putting up witnesses and having testimony, the defense put up one witness, whose testimony lasted about one hour. Most defense attorneys believe that this was just simply not enough.

When Carroll’s defense attorney was asked about his presentation, he replied that it was not his job to prove what happened that night that the child died, but to give reasonable doubt. There were many holes poked in the testimony of the prosecution’s star witness, Amy Baker.

According to the defense attorney, Baker has changed her story now three times. One she told to the initial police officer when she demanded immunity before she would talk. The second she told to the grand jury, and the third she told now at the trial. Many wonder if there will be another story told at Dave Carroll’s trial.

So is Baker truly lying or just confused? What really happened to the three year old child? Should Baker have really been given immunity? These are all questions that many people are still wondering, and most believe that they will never get the answers.

In order to really know what happened, I think many will agree that Clermont County would have to employ agent Horatio Caine from CSI. As this was wrong doing by all three adults, many believe that they should all have to stand trial and should receive close to the same punishment.

To be completely honest I don’t believe that the story that the prosecution believes is an honest account for what really happened in that house the day the little boy was killed. I believe that it is a complete injustice for Mrs. Baker to be a free woman.

I believe she played a part in the death of this little boy and should have to stand trial for the part that she played.
