Muntz rooms get high tech upgrades

In assisting students’ learning capabilities, RWC’s Office of Facilities Management has updated quite a few classrooms with new technology over the summer. As of September 24, Muntz Hall rooms 112B, 255, 328, and 349 have been equipped with a bunch of new things students and professors can use.

All four classrooms have LCD projectors and screens, new speakers, and document cameras. For all of you who don’t know, document cameras are high resolution web cams mounted on arms to display three-dimensional objects or to allow professors to write on non-transparent sheets of paper while the class observes.

In Muntz 122B and 349, new Mac computers were installed. These desktops have whopping 24-inch screens, with the computer built right into the back of the screen. No need for a tower! These beastly computers along with the other technology updates in these two rooms alone cost roughly around $132,000.

In rooms 255 and 328 Muntz, the College has installed Sympodium Software, DVD players, new furniture, and teacher workstations. These two rooms cost nearly $100,000.

Still to come this quarter, you can look for new projectors and speakers in SAHB classrooms.

RWC Assistant Dean Gene Kramer, working with the Faculty and Buildings and Grounds Committee, intends to continue future plans with “modernizing classrooms as funds become available.
