This summer at UC Blue Ash there are three amazing study abroad programs being offered to students. There is still a chance for any student who is interested to apply. The deadline isn't until November 15th.
The first program available is the Summer British Study Abroad Program led by two wonderful professors Ruth Benander and Debbie Page. The trip will cost about $3,900 plus UCBA tuition. But it will be well worth it as you get to visit places like Harlaxton Manor in Grantham, England; London; Vienna, Austria, and Prague, in the Czech Republic. Also there will be $1000 taken off for UC students. While there you can take one or two three credit hour classes. Page will teach Hapsburgs, Hohenzollerns, and Windsors: A Psychological Study of Empire. Benander will teach The Literary Gothic from Horror to Surrealism. So if you have interests in this subject and learning more about it through a fun and new experience this is the perfect choice for you.
Now if you have an interest in further learning the Spanish language and travel at the same time there is the Spanish Language Study Abroad program in Peru which will be held this summer from June 3-20. You'll get chances to further improve and study your Spanish in an international language school in Cusco, Peru. There will also be classes on the Latin America culture itself such as the program SPAN 2065. If you take the SPAN 2090 you can have the opportunity to live with local families and learn more about their lives and culture from firsthand experience. There are many places you will get to visit including Urubmba, Lima, Peru, The Sacred Valley of the Incas in Pisac, and many other places. This program will cost $3,400 plus tuition but students of UC and UCBA receive a $800 reduction on that.
Another study abroad offering is a very special program this summer that will take place in Costa Rica. Biology Professor Susan Willis will lead students to Costa Rica May 3-18. She will be offering a three credit hour class called EVST 2014 Tropical Natural History and Conservation in Costa Rica. It is a chance to study environmental science in one of the most biologically diverse places on earth, Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica. Students will also learn more about sustainability and conservation by visiting an organic farm and sustainable resorts. The probable cost of this will be about $2,800 and tuition, but each UC or UCBA student will receive $600 off.
Now if you are interested in these program and want to learn more than the basic facts there are three workshops that students can go to in order to ask questions. They are October 21, 2:30-3:30 in Muntz 350, October 22, 2:00-3:00 in Muntz 350, and October 24, 10:00-11:00.
