Professor Rachael Allstatter of the Office Information Technology Department was awarded the Golden Apple Teaching Award at the 50th Annual Convention of the American Association of Medical Assistants in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on September 12. For Professor Allstatter to be eligible for the award, several of her students and colleagues had to write letters about why she deserved the Golden Apple.
When asked why she thought she won the award, Professor Allstatter said, “My credentials allowed me to win it.”
Though Professor Allstatter was modest about the award, her colleague and former student Mary Elizabeth Browder was more than happy to give her the credit that she deserved. “She exemplifies the educator that the Golden Apple represents,” Browder said. “She is a dedicated educator, who through the years has promoted and held firmly to the belief that if you not only teach the students, but support them scholastically and professionally the medical assisting profession has no choice but to be better for it.
