On September 22, the RWC eMedia Department held its annual fall reception and orientation for new and current students and handed out awards for outstanding student work the past year. The reception was a chance for eMedia students new and old to get to know one another better and to allow new students the chance to learn what the program is all about. Current students and alumni came together on a panel to speak about their experiences in the eMedia program and where it had taken them in life. On the panel were alumni Joe Busam, Sharon Estano, and Andrea Rahtz; along with current students Jason Levy, Ashlee Lyons, and Todd Uttley.
As well as getting to know the people and the program, the Fall Reception also gives credit to those who had done outstanding work from the past year. The awards were given to students who had the best student work of the 2005-2006 school year and the most outstanding degree projects of 2006.
Textbooks for the eMedia Department courses and other prizes were then given out to attending students as door prizes. Following the door prizes was an exhibition of all the 2006 degree projects and a reception with refreshments for producers, alumni, current eMedia students and their guests.
