The Massacre in Zanesville

In yet another incident that makes me ashamed to admit that I am an Ohio native, 18 rare Bengal tigers were massacred by the sheriff’s department in Zanesville, Ohio, on October 19.

For those of you keeping score at home, these 18 dead constituted over one percent of the total number of tigers left on the planet.

In the worst case scenario, if these tigers had each killed one person, it still wouldn’t amount to more than a fraction of a percent—infinitesimal in the grand scheme of things.

Don’t get me wrong; I appreciate the concern for human life, but there is a world of difference between being proactive and just demonstrating the colossal ignorance that makes me (A) a staunch proponent of outlawing firearms and (B) have to tell people that I’m from Canada when I travel abroad.
