Cyberguide: Summer fun on a student budget

As another school year slowly winds down, you probably find yourself wondering, “What am I going to do over summer break?” As a student, you may not be aware of all the great travel deals available to you unless you know where to look.Visit Premier Travel at www.luv2travel.com, the “Student Travel Experts,” for fare quotes, exchange rates, international student ID cards, and information about traveling abroad.

Whether abroad or close to home, one of the best ways to cut costs on a trip is to stay at a student hostel. At www.hostels.com you can surf a worldwide database, make on-line reservations, and find useful tips about traveling on a student budget.

Another great site is www.smartliving.com. Did you know that as a student you can fly stand-by for just $52? Find out how, plus student travel tips, how to ship items home, and other valuable information for the adventurous or eco-minded.

For you non-traditional students with families, take a look at a family-oriented site like www.kidsdomain.com or www.travelwithkids.com for lists of vacation ideas, roadside attractions, travel games, and tips for traveling with children.

Well, this is the last article I’ll be writing for The Activist. I want to thank everyone for reading my stuff, and for all the wonderful support and feedback I’ve gotten from faculty and other students over the past year. It’s been a great opportunity and learning experience, and a pleasure serving the RWC community. Thanks and have a great summer.
