Special topics history courses offered this summer

Do you need a history elective or are you just looking for an interesting course to take this summer? The RWC History Department is offering two topics courses that might be just what you’re looking for.Course #28-HIST-352-251 is an in-depth exploration of the international history of the Cold War. According to Assistant Professor of History John McNay, who will teach the course, “The Cold War has a lot to do with the way the world is today. For nearly 50 years, the United States and its allies and the Soviet Union and its allies have struggled for political, economic, and military superiority around the world.”

Other issues to be explored are the proliferation of nuclear weapons, famous spies and espionage, and how subsequent tensions from the Cold War have fueled current events.

For those interested, the course runs from July 17-August 8, and meets Monday-Thursday from 1-3:15 p.m.

If the Cold War’s not your thing, RWC is also offering a second term summer course, #28-HIST-221-351, Topics in History: Nazi Germany. This course, taught by Lee Baker, meets Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
