On The Spot: Negative campaign ads

What did you think of the mudslinging campaign ads that ran on T.V. for the upcoming election, and do you think they were effective?

Jami Haring

“I don’t think they’re effective at all. It’s like a whole bunch of five year olds going back and forth. I think it’s ridiculous.”

Tyger Calloway

“I think that they’re extremely negative and not effective at all. I feel like their campaigns are simply attacking their opponents. It makes people want to change the channel instead of go out and vote.”

Sean Lamare

“To me they haven’t been effective. Other ads come on saying they need to stop putting them on TV, for example the news. [One of the news stations] reported that people were getting tired of it all and that it was childish. I feel the same way.”

Tosha Suggs

“I don’t necessarily think they were effective. Each person running is going to attack their opponent to make themselves look better. I think people need to do their own research on campaigns, instead of relying on the ads.
