Who doesn’t hate having a petty job? We’ve all had that miserable profession before. You can usually tell a wretched job when it has a stereotypical quote or phrase that you are required to say daily: “Thank you, come again.”
“Would you like paper or plastic?”
“Order’s up!”
“That’s a big go on pump five, you’re all set!”
Ew, there is usually a pretty good reason why those particular jobs always have “Help Wanted” flyers posted around their establishment.
A perfect example of that lifestyle is in the movie “Employee of the Month.” Judging from the cast, I thought this movie would have me rolling on the floor. Thankfully it didn’t, because those movie theater floors are pretty sickening. Such humorous characters included stand up comedian Dane Cook, the ever-entertaining Andy Dick, MTV’S ‘Punk’d’ star Dex Shepard, and even Napoleon Dynamite sidekick, Efren Ramirez, better known as Pedro.
Notice that I never mentioned Jessica Simpson? Although one of the main characters in the movie, she is far from funny.
The plot is based on two characters competing for none other than employee of the month. The competition starts when new cashier, the ever un-funny Jessica Simpson, steps onto the job site.
The flick goes on to show the frustrating yet comical day in the life of a surplus store worker. I definitely recommend checking this movie out if you’re in the mood for a cheap chuckle. Definitely do not expect anything over the top.
