Congratulations to Professor Sue Sipple. Rcently, at the National Association of Developmental Education (NADE) conference in St. Louis, the RWC English Professor was given the (NADE) Anne Ferguson Award. The award honors educators committed to inspiring professionalism in developmental education.
The award recognizes Sipple’s innovative teaching method of using audio-recorded comments, instead of handwritten notes in margins, on student writing in developmental writing classes. She has done research on this technique and has discovered that students reacted more positively and their revisions were more significant when audio-recorded feedback was used. Sipple has been a revolutionary in developmental education and many students have benefited from her work.
