Summer British Study Abroad Program meeting scheduled

On Wednesday, Jan. 24, an informal meeting regarding RWC’s British Study Abroad Program will take place at 2 p.m. in Room 153 SAHB.February 15 is the deadline for applications to the 2001 program in Ireland and England. A $400 deposit is required at that time. Applicants must be students in good standing at an accredited university and must enroll in at least one of the two program courses during Spring Quarter 2001. Enrollment for the program is limited to a maximum of 30 students.

During June 10-July 8, students participating in the program will travel to Ireland and England to study the works of James Joyce and D.H. Lawrence and learn the history of those who traveled from the British Isles to settle in North America.

The estimated cost of the program, including room and board (two meals daily in Ireland, three meals daily in England), airfare and transportation is $2,000 – $2,300. This amounts to an approximate 30 percent discount from the true cost of the program because of a grant of $1,000 per student that the program has received from UC’s Institute of Global Studies and Affairs.

Tuition cost is extra, depending on the number of credit hours enrolled. Ohio residents pay $95 per credit hour.

Applicants will be notified of acceptance in the program by March 15. Payment in full is due by May 1, 2001. The deposit will apply toward the total cost. Those not accepted will be refunded the deposit.
