Leave blinds or shades normal.
Put two lights on a timer.
Have a friend or neighbor maintain your property.
Make sure your doors and windows are locked.

Packing Your Bags
Make a record of your documents and credit cards.
Only carry essential credit cards; clean out wallet before you go.
Don’t carry large amounts of cash (use traveler’s checks and credit cards when possible).

Plan your route.
Have your car serviced before leaving.
Exit at well lit area.
Keep valuables and road maps out of sight (don’t advertise that you’re a tourist).
Keep your vehicle locked at all times when you stop.
If possible, carry a cell phone.

Don’t leave luggage unattended.
Park in well lit areas.
Do not leave valuables in your room (use safety deposit box).
Always carry cash, credit cards, and keys with you.
Do not answer the door if you do not know who it is. (Verify employees through the front desk).
Check your belongings daily.
While at Your Vacation Area
Don’t display expensive jewelry or cameras.
Carry your purse close to you.
Be aware of your surroundings.
Use sight-seeing companies recommended by your hotel.
Stay with your party or have a meeting place set up if you get separated.
