Indie masterminds Atlas Genius will be hitting the stage at Cincinnati’s Bogarts on Tuesday, September 24, as part of their North American headliner tour. Family of the Year, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., and Little Comets will join in support.
If you haven’t heard of the group, you’re sure to know them in the future. Hailing from Adelaide, Australia, Atlas Genius has been enjoying quite the success story here in the United States.
“We’ve been touring America for a year or more now,” vocalist and guitarist Keith Jeffery explained in an exclusive phone interview with the Activist.
What a tour it has been. Their presence has been seen on television staples such as “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” most recently “Conan,” and festivals like Lollapalooza and Cincinnati’s own Bunbury Music Festival, just to name a few.
Their debut album, “When It Was Now,” was released in early 2013. Singles “Trojans” and “If So” peaked at numbers four and eight respectively on Billboard’s Alternative chart and the Little Daylight remix of “If So” is currently taking the music world by storm.
If you like Capital Cities, The Shins or Walk the Moon, you’re sure to enjoy everything Atlas Genius offers. Their entire LP is packed with toe tappers and fun tracks to move to, only proving that their September 24 show will definitely be one to watch.
“American crowds are generally louder, which makes playing the shows a lot of fun,” Keith said. He also joked that the band could be seen entering venues via helicopter and that he likes to throw in some backflips during the set.
“We’re excited to change some things up on this tour. Some nights we’re going to try different versions of songs, so they won’t be like the album,” Keith explained.
