Cebula to lead Ohio chapter of AAUP

RWC Professor of History Dr. James Cebula was recently named president of the Ohio Conference of the American Association of University Professor’s (AAUP) . The AAUP has over 50,000 members nationally, 4000 of which make up the Ohio conference. Originally founded in the 1915, the AAUP seeks to preserve national standards of academic freedom, involve educators in institutional governance issues, and insure academic due process.

Cebula, a member of the AAUP since 1969, has served two terms as president of the U.C. chapter, on the National Council, and on the national executive committee. According to Cebula, participation in the association is a way of going above and beyond the normal duties of an educator.

“It’s service to the profession,” he said.
