University of Cincinnati departments, groups, companies, and vendors are going crazy over Bearcat Mascot Mania. As they prepare for the Bearcat countdown, the UC Alumni Association and campus services have presented an opportunity to display UC’s Bearcat pride by introducing the Mascot Mania contest.
A department, or group, can purchase a four foot fiberglass bearcat for $300 dollars, decorate it, and give it a thematic dress code and name, to compete for one of the following prizes:UC’s Choice

Award presented at the end of the Celebrate UC event
Best of Breed
Awarded to the Bearcat that receives the highest dollar bid at the UC Presidential Ball on Saturday, October 19, 2002

RWC has four departments registered for the contest:
Dean’s Office, entering “Ray Cat”
Administrative Services, entering “Constructabear”
Student Life, entering “Everybody Loves Raymond” and
College Staff, entering “Bearcatus Cincinnatus”
All Mascot Mania Bearcats will be auctioned at the Presidential Ball on October 19, 2002, and displayed at UC Homecoming on October 26. Alumni and Bearcat maniacs can see all of the Bearcats and vote on the award for “Best in Show” at UC’s Homecoming on October 26 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on the McMicken Lawn.
