Career Services offers test anxiety workshops

The RWC Career Services Offices is offering workshops this week on test anxiety. According to Pamela Lineback, RWC Director of Career Services, test anxiety is a condition some students suffer when, despite being well-prepared for tests, they draw a blank and are unable to effectively answer test questions.

“It is a learned reaction to what is perceived to be a stressful situation,” she said. “Fortunately such reactions can be unlearned and replaced with more effective responses. Through progressive muscle relaxation and positive imagery, students can manage test taking situations better.”

However, she said, the process is not magic. It is not a cure-all for lack of preparation. Also, it takes some work because it is a practiced skill.

The workshops will be held in the Career Services Office (Muntz Hall, Room 151) for one hour. Students need attend only once.

Workshop times this week are the following:

Wednesday, May 15, noon
Thursday, May 16, 1 p.m.
