On Saturday, May 21, many students in the RWC eMedia program attended the Potluck Barbecue and Awards Ceremony, and many students received awards for their accomplishments in the program. There were 68 production awards and 30 media writing awards given out. Some students received as many as four awards in these fields. The writing awards were given out for essays, critical analyses, research portfolios and script books that were done in classes.
There were also 38 valuable volunteer awards winners, including Team Fun-Kar and 13 Hearts. Max Woods received the Agnes Williams Sovak scholarship and the Deans full time scholarship. Former Activist staffer Danny Sammons Jr. received an academic award, Who’s Who in American Junior Colleges, as well as the UC Alumni Scholarship. He is also an honors graduate.
Another former Activist staffer, Jordan Rolfes, was a candidate for Honor Student of the Year. In the eMedia Department, 61 students were on the dean’s list and 41 performance packages were earned and received this year. In addition, Kyle Bennett and Matt Osborne, were inducted into Phi Theta Kappa.
