Spanish Classes Celebrate Cinco de Mayo

On May 5, RWC students, led by Spanish Professor Angel Anorga, celebrated Cinco de Mayo at El Establo Restaurant in Silverton. As we all know Cinco de Mayo is a special holiday for Mexicans. On this day Mexico defeated the French at the battle of Puebla. So Mexico celebrates freedom each year on May 5. Professor Anorga and his classes celebrated this year with a lecture at El Establo. The owner acommodated the professor and students by opening the restaurant at 8 a.m. Students had to order their brunch and pay for their food in Spanish.

Professor Anorga explained that he not only wanted his students to get a grade and eat good food but to experience the authencity and to learn about the history of Cinco de Mayo.
