Cabinet Vice-President responds to Farmer

Mr. Brandon Farmer,I am writing in response to your editorial, “Where is Student Government?” which appeared in the poorly prepared February 5th edition of The Activist.

When I use the term poorly prepared, I am saying: ‘I have a hard time taking your edition seriously.’ The pages were misnumbered and the layout overall is poor, not to mention the 3 R’s of journalism seemed to be missing, in the case of your editorial.

I find great humor in the fact that you feel compelled to write an article about your lack of knowledge concerning your Student Government. From the moment a student enters Raymond Walters College orientation they are faced with at least one Student Government representative, and for those who choose not to attend, due to other circumstances, the student handbook, which is published every year and free to students, is readily available to pick up in the Office of Student Life. I would hate to leave out the fact, if a person was not willing to obtain the information from that particular source; signs tend to be up in each Lobby almost every other week.

I believe it is your responsibility as an able student to take advantage of the information readily available. The materials you obtained from the office concerning the Special Elections would be an excellent example. I do not feel you should criticize you volunteer Student Government representatives.

Sincerely,
Angelia Monroe
Vice of Cabinet
