Film Club to Celebrate Halloween With “Carrie”

Halloween is right around the corner, and there is no better way to celebrate than by watching a classic horror film.
On October 16, the UCBA Film Club will be showing the film “Carrie” in Muntz Hall Room 253, from 3-6 p.m.
Directed by Brian De Palma, “Carrie” revolves around Carrie White (Sissy Spacek), an outcast teenager who is abused by her mother (Piper Laurie) and classmates.
Early in the film Carrie discovers that she has telekinetic powers, which begin to reveal themselves as she gets angry. Carrie is invited to the prom on a prank by classmates Tommy Ross (William Katt) and Sue Snell (Amy Irving). When she discovers the prank, Carrie’s rage builds and chaos ensues.
Other upcoming showings will be on November 13 and November 20. These will also be from 3-6 p.m. in Muntz Hall Room 253. Check upcoming Activist issues for more about the films that will be shown on these dates.
