On Monday, October 17, members of COMA–Collegiate Organization of Medical Assistants–were given a proclamation by Dean Dolores Straker recognizing the third week of October as National Medical Assistant Recognition Week. “Medical Assistants are working to make a difference in the lives of the patients they serve,” said RWC Professor Rachael Allstatter, who directs the RWC Medical Assisting Program. “Medical Assistants are considered to be at the heart of health care, working side by side with physicians, nurses, and other allied health professionals,” she said.
The medical assistant students celebrated the week by passing out candy to their fellow students.
