Gay Marriage Again

On March 26, the Supreme Court held a hearing on whether to change and update the laws and stipulations of gay marriage. Previously, I  addressed the topic in an opinion piece, and there are still more reasons why it shouldn’t be banned than why it should.
Religion should not be intermixed with the laws of the state. In my opinion, marriage is basically permission from God to have sex with someone and bear children.
The Bible and the commandments that were written in it in the past do not match the way that society operates today. Today, people don’t get married just because they want to have children. They get married because they love a person and want to have him or her forever as a companion.
Personally, I think that getting married today is more about love and the honor and commitments that come with joining someone in matrimony, not just to keep up with a social norm.
It all comes down to sex, in this debate. Marriage gives a man and a woman permission to indulge in sexual intercourse and conceive a child, but because a woman and a woman or a man and a man cannot bear children, should they have to be limited regarding the people they can choose to love? That’s ridiculous.
Gays/lesbians already have a lot on their plate with the way that society accepts their preference, so we should leave their actual “love life” up to them.
