UCBA is in the process of installing new HELP phones throughout the campus. So far 29 phones have been installed and are ready to be used. Another group of phones will be installed over Spring Break, to be followed by subsequent installations until all classrooms are equipped with a HELP phone.
The phones are expected to solve the issue of poor cell phone coverage in classrooms, but they cannot be used to place calls external to UCBA; these phones can only be used to call the police, or call for help with IT, A/V problems, or maintenance issues.
Next to the phones will be a small sign that includes the three following phone numbers:
911-The emergency phone number. This will call the UC Public Safety Dispatcher. Callers will need to state the room number and the name of the building (a label on the phone will have the room number).
5707-The Maintenance/Housekeeping phone number. This number should be used when a drink has been spilled on the floor, the room is too hot or too cold, or other maintenance problems have occurred.
8308-The IT phone number. This number should be used for issues with technology.
Phones are currently located in the following classrooms:
Muntz: 152, 154, 156, 157, 158, 170, 244, 252, 255, 257, 265, 308, 329, 349, 353, 355, 357, 365.
Walters: 148, 149, 150, 151, 153, 155, 263
Flory Center: 160, 165, 170
Vet Tech: 102
