On February 21, UCBA Student Life hosted “Declare Your Major Day.” Many students gathered in Muntz Lobby during the four hour event, where they were given the opportunity to do a variety of things with their major.
Students were able to declare their major on-site, change their major on-site, learn why it’s important to formally declare a major, schedule appointments with their academic advisor and career counselor, share a note for why they selected their major on large murals, and receive a home-baked treat for participating in the event.
According to Sarah Meagher of the Student Life Office, out of the many students who visited the table, 109 shared the reasons behind their major selection on murals, and 20 people declared or changed their major.
Students can change or declare their major anytime by completing a two-minute form in the OneStop Office (Muntz 150).
Declaring a major assures that a student can graduate on time, receive proper information about the program and any updates, and have access to resources that benefit graduation and career development.
