Movies: Harold and Kumar sequel just okay

This week I am reviewing “Harold and Kumar Escape from Gauntanimo Bay.” I expected this movie to contain just as many drug metaphors and use as the first Harold and Kumar film. The actors are John Cho as Harold Lee and Kal Penn as Kumar.

This long awaited sequel starts off where the previous movie ended. Harold and Kumar are on their way to Amsterdam, the Mecca of Marijuana. But, of course, something ends up happening as usual, and Kumar sneaks a bong on board, which is mistaken for a bomb, and the two are accused of being terrorists on their plane trip to Amsterdam. They are interrogated by Jack (Rob Corddry) and they are sent to Gauntanimo Bay, the U.S. military detainment center.

I felt that this movie was okay but not as good as the first movie. The first reason is that I expected just as much or more drug references but was sadly disappointed.

The second reason why I was only partially happy with this movie is that it did finish up the story from the first movie. I had expected though that the movie would take place in Amsterdam and not all over the U.S.

Something that was put in the movie that I did not expect was somewhat of a lost love for Kumar, which is introduced into this movie and should have been deleted.

Another reason why I feel that this movie was okay is that they included the trio of Harold, Kumar, and Neal Patrick Hariss, who added a great role to the movie as usual.

My overall rating on the movie would be a six out of ten, because it missed a few key areas as discussed earlier.
