A significant point in Chris’s life occurred this past fall when he was still in training for the police academy and was on a drive in downtown Cincinnati. Chris was just sitting in the passenger side of the police cruiser, looking for suspicious activity in Over-The-Rhine, and both he and the police officer with him spotted a drug deal going down on the corner of a street.
Immediately they turned the sirens on, and the officer jolted the car in the their direction to chase after the drug dealer. Both the officer and Chris saw the drug dealer go into an empty warehouse. So the officer drove over and parked next to the warehouse.
Chris was still in training, so the officer told him to stay in the car. While the officer went inside to took a look around, Chris waited in the car, ready at any moment to radio for help. Then he heard two gunshots and instantly saw the officer leading the drug dealer out in hand cuffs.
That was the first time Chris had heard a gun shot with the intent to kill someone, and he says he will always be cautious once he starts patrolling the streets as an officer.
