The Writing Center at RWC is available for any student who wants help with the numerous essays and research papers due at the end of the quarter. Maria Damen, Lab Manager at the Writing Center, emphasizes the “wonderful tutoring” that students can receive from the academic tutors at no additional cost.
Students can ask for help in any area of the writing process, from brainstorming to the final revised draft. However, if students would like help with their writing assignments, they should come to the Writing Center sooner rather than later, Damen said, and call to schedule appointments.
If students do not schedule appointments, they take the chance of not getting the attention they would prefer, because the tutors are already helping someone else.
The Writing Center has extensive hours: Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m.-8 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. by appointment only. Students can make appointments up to a week in advance, a fact that may help students prioritize and complete assignments on time.
