Multi-Cultural Student Affairs Announces New Honor Society

RWC has been accepted as a new chapter of the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society. Alpha Sigma Lambda is a national honor society for non-traditional adult students who are able to excel academically in addition to balancing work and home life. Membership in Alpha Sigma Lambda is by invitation only; to qualify, students must have earned at least 36 credit hours and have a 3.2 GPA. Inducted members are nationally recognized and eligible for several scholarships offered through the Alpha Sigma Lambda Adult Education Foundation.

“Some of our student parents and I have been looking into this honor society for over a year,” said Helen Kegler, RWC Director of Multi-Cultural Student Affairs. “We felt it would have good potential for RWC’s non-traditional population. The goals and aim of the organization are positive and would offer a great opportunity for our non-traditional student population here to be recognized for their achievements.”

The first induction of students into RWC’s Sigma Beta Chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda will be in the Spring 2010 quarter. Students who meet the requirements will be invited to join, but those interested in learning more about the honor society can visit www.alphalambdasigma.org or contact Helen Kegler in Muntz 127 or via email at Helen.Kegler@uc.edu.
